What is peaceWorks live?
peaceworks live is our annual training conference designed for biblical counselors and other helpers engaged in gospel-centered domestic abuse intervention ministry.
intended audience for PeaceWorks Live 2026
This year’s conference is intended to serve both professional and lay helpers who are engaged in gospel-centered domestic abuse intervention ministry. Past attendees have included licensed and lay biblical counselors, social workers, pastors, elders, small group leaders, advocates, survivors, and family members of those experiencing or perpetrating abuse. Whether you are a long-time domestic abuse interventionist or you are in the early days of understanding this topic, we hope you will join us.
PeaceWorks Live is more than a training event. It's a gathering for people helpers who are committed to responding to domestic abuse with confidence in the sufficiency of Scripture, humble dependence on the Holy Spirit, safety and support for victims, and accountability and repentance opportunities for perpetrators. This is a time for these helpers to reflect on what it means to faithfully respond to these cases with Christ-exalting, gospel-centered solutions and to be reminded that they are not alone in this difficult work.
A Word to Perpetrators of Domestic Abuse: If you are a perpetrator of domestic abuse in need of resources to aid in your repentance process, please understand PeaceWorks Live is not intended to serve you in this way. Instead, we ask that you please visit www.menofpeace.org to view the resources PeaceWorks has designed specifically for abusive men desiring change.
A Word to Victims of Domestic Abuse: If you are currently living under the weight of abuse and in need of support as you pursue safety and sanity, please visit www.menofpeace.org/for-spouses to view a list of recommended victim care resources. If you are a survivor of domestic abuse desiring to engage in domestic abuse intervention ministry yourself, we recommend that, if possible, you not attend PeaceWorks Live alone but that you bring with you a trusted friend who can provide you with support throughout the event as the conference content may be triggering for survivors.
Worship & Plenary Sessions
All attendees, regardless of which educational track they register for (see below), will come together throughout the conference for four combined plenary sessions.
Plenary #1 - Chris Moles

On Thursday night of the conference, attendees will also come together for a special night of corporate lament. We hope you will join us as we bring our collective grief and sorrow to the Lord and put our trust in Him as the Redeemer who rescues, restores, and rules over all things.
Worship will be led by Adam Westlake.

This track, led by Chris Moles and Greg Wilson, will explore the underlying heart dynamics, distorted beliefs, and contributing factors that fuel abuse. Sessions will address the role of trauma without excusing sin, emphasizing personal responsibility, repentance, and lasting change. Practical tools such as coaching strategies, motivational interviewing, and an awareness of neurodiversity and stages of change will help attendees develop more effective, individualized responses.
To ensure a shared foundation, track attendees must have previously completed the Men of Peace Facilitator (Introduction) track (or its equivalent) before registering for this track.

Abuse is often misunderstood, minimized, or misnamed, especially in Christian communities where unity, forgiveness, and reconciliation are rightly valued but sometimes misapplied. This training track, led by Darby Strickland, is designed to help leaders and helpers grow in biblical clarity, discernment, and courage as they care for those who have been harmed,
helping participants learn how to recognize its patterns, understand its impact on victims, and respond in ways that prioritize safety, dignity, and faithful care.
Across these sessions, we will look closely at God’s heart for the oppressed and his call to reflect his justice, truth, and compassion. Each session will have a counseling goal in mind as well as highlight a particular form of abuse.
Rather than rushing toward solutions, this track invites participants to slow down, learn to see clearly, and practice wise, protective presence so that the church can become a place where victims are believed, supported, and shepherded with integrity.

CTHN’s Level 1 Training at PeaceWorks Live 2026 is a 6.5-hour training designed for Christian professional and lay counselors who desire to learn the basics for counseling clients who have experienced past trauma. Beth Broom will teach the course content using biblical principles and a distinctly Christian worldview. This course is an overview of counseling practices for providing healing from a traumatic event or series of events. It does not cover advanced methods of counseling, nor does it offer specific practices for helping clients who are currently being traumatized.
This live training is lecture-only and does not include the three required group consultation sessions in order to receive the certificate for Certified Christian Trauma Care Provider-1. Any participants who want to fulfill further requirements to receive certification will be required to connect with CTHN after the conference in order to complete the group consultation sessions and course assessment.

The experience of abuse and trauma often leaves people feeling alienated from community, trying to heal and move forward in isolation. Survivors face the disruptive and disorienting impacts of abuse and trauma, wondering who God is, and how they can relate to others and themselves. How can we companion those who have been shattered by betrayal, violence, and devastating loss? In this track, participants will learn from ReStoried’s creator, Melissa Affolter, on how to facilitate support groups for women or men who have experienced abuse and trauma. Sessions will provide a shepherd-midwife-guide framework for care that can be adapted to various contexts, drawing from Melissa’s ten-plus years of experience in leading her ReStoried groups.

We don’t know when crises will emerge. We do know that crises are coming. In churches filled with broken people who live in a fallen world, crises are an inevitable part of ministry. One of the most difficult, complex, and tragic crises a church faces is domestic violence. In this track, Brad Hambrick will provide you with guidance for shepherding crises in the church with skill, intentionality, and integrity. Throughout the track, we will illustrate these principles of crisis management on domestic violence situations.
